Lesson Plan 2 Reflection
Reflection on Lesson
WHAT?
What happened? What went well? What was an area of weakness?
Which objectives were met? What is the evidence? Which students did not meet objectives? Which students exceeded objectives? Why?First we began our lesson by going over our rules that we had established the week before. I had our rule laminated along with our. sheet we signed stating we would follow these rules. From here we went into our introductions where students had to answer the questions how they were doing today and what is their favorite season? After our introductions we proceeded to get into reviewing our four P's preview, purpose, prior knowledge, and prediction as well as completing our vocabulary word wall. One of our students had mentioned she had prior knowledge to our story because she had read the story before. We really had the students try to remember what a prediction was before we explained it carefully because we wanted to see the knowledge they had on prediction before we began. After our four Ps we began to look over our anchor chart on predictions in detail. Our anchor chart gave a direct definition of predictions, when we predict, and how we confirm predictions or deny if a prediction is correct we would be affirming. As a group we began to take what we learned from our anchor chart on predictions and predicted what could happen in our story of Enemy Pie by using the cover of the story and the title. This part of using what we had learned from the anchor chart to verbally predict went really well and helped the students prepare for the prediction worksheet. After verbally predicting we began out prediction work sheet this week we had students complete them on there own it was not difficult for the students there was not a lot of writing therefor we thought it would be best to have them try it on there own. I began to read the story Enemy Pie frequently stopping and asking the students questions. After we read we reviewed our prediction work sheet and read each sentence the students shared if the production was a yes it occurred or a no it did not. The students then read out and shared their predictions that they had written themselves. The objective of recognizing which predictions did occur in the story was met through the prediction worksheet. Each student met the objective only each getting one sentence wrong predicting yes rather than no that did not occur. Both student were on the same level of meeting objectives. As a closer we played a roll and retell game that referred to story elements that we had covered last week the students enjoyed the game but they did need a refresher on what story elements were.

SO WHAT?
What was learned from this experience? Evidence of teacher candidate learning
The anchor charts are very useful for the students especially now we have learned that one of our students has a seeing challenge so have big visuals for her to see is very helpful for her understanding of comprehending. We also saw that building each week on what we have learned in past weeks is helpful for the students when we played roll and retell the students appeared to really forget what story elements were they needed to refresh there minds on this. Once we had done so the students began to remember and then were able to build upon what we learned last week and connect it to this weeks lesson on predictions.NOW WHAT?
How will this experience influence my professional identity?
How will this experience influence how I plan/teach/assess in the future?
Now that I have the knowledge of knowing that one of our students has a visual challenge it now explains why the visuals of the anchor charts helped her so much and why she enjoyed them. Now that we have this information for future lesson we will most definitely use more visuals and big anchor chart to help her understand the lesson. As a professional this is so helpful to me to now think of what helps this student when creating my lessons.
