Lesson Plan 4 Vocabulary
WHAT?
What happened? What went well? What was an area of weakness?
Which objectives were met? What is the evidence? Which students did not meet objectives? Which students exceeded objectives? Why?First we began our lesson by reviewing our classroom rules and asking our students how they were since awe had not seen them in a while. From here we went on to go over our agenda explaining that this lesson we will be focusing on vocabulary words. Therefore we introduced our vocabulary words on our word wall. From here after reviewing our vocabulary we introduced the Frayer model anchor chart using the models set up we then picked a vocabulary words and as a group filled in graphic organizers of the Frayer model using our picked out vocabulary word. We then went on to review our 4 Ps and had students predicted what could happen or what the story may be about. From here Miss. Houghton read our story which was Holding Her Own: The Exceptional Life of Jackie Ormes by Traci N. Todd this was an informational text but the illustration were in an animated form which really grabbed the attention of the students with the colors. At the end of the story we had the students answer questions from the story and had them give a recap of key events. From here we introduced another activity where the students had to fill in the blanks of sentences from our story with the vocabulary words. It appeared that students had a hard time with this portion so we decided to complete that part together working through them and reading each sentence out loud help both students they quickly understood and filled in the vocabulary words. The students then created their own two sentences using vocabulary words the students enjoyed this becoming creative with what they wrote. This portion went very well the students met the objectives they proved they knew what the vocabulary definitions were through there sentence making. They then completed the last section which was drawing a picture to the definition of the vocabulary words. This part the students really enjoyed and proved their understanding of the vocabulary words meeting objectives of accuracy of the vocabulary words. The students both met the objectives equally no one exceeded objectives. After this activity we wrapped up and thanks them we reviewed vocabulary and we told them what lesson to expect for the next week.

SO WHAT?
What was learned from this experience? Evidence of teacher candidate learning
During this lesson we learned how the students like reading stories with animated illustrations. The students enjoyed being able to draw pictures as well on their worksheet there last section they had to pick two vocabulary words and draw a picture to represent the words definition. We had them draw because the character in the story we learned about also was illustrator and writer for her news paper. Therefor we has students illustrate there vocabulary words.Graphic Organizer On Vocab
NOW WHAT?
How will this experience influence my professional identity?
How will this experience influence how I plan/teach/assess in the future?
I had noticed the students appeared confused on our second activity when filling in the blanks in the sentences using the vocabulary words therefore I decided to do one together. The students quickly understood what todo. This helps me understand for the future when to have students do examples together. I will also continue using big visuals especially that we have a student in our group you needs big visuals.
